Leon Weckstein

Leon Weckstein was born in New York City in 1921. After graduating high school in Los Angeles, he was drafted into the Army where he served until his discharge in October 1945. He is the author of two books about his experiences in WWII’s Italian Campaign. A host of foreign and American awards adorn the wall in his office, including the highly esteemed Legion of Merit; the Bronze Star; Italy’s Cross of Valor; Poland’s Bronze Cross of Merit with Swords; and Pisa’s Silver Medallion.

At the time of completing “200,000 Heroes,” Leon Weckstein is ninety years old, in good health, and living in Thousand Oaks, California, enjoying the pleasures he shares with his family.
