M. Latourette

I am not a Native American. I do not hold myself out as an expert on Native American history nor of the plight of these people during the period of European settlement in North America. I am a fan of history, specifically the settlement period of Oregon when my ancestors came to make their lives in this beautiful state. While I did significant research into the man, the times, and his people this book is a novel and a work of fiction. I contacted the Burns Paiute Tribe on several occasions offering to let them review this manuscript, those offers were declined. The story of Chief Paulina and the Northern Paiute people is important. It holds many lessons. A better understanding of our past allows us all to move forward with a broader understanding.
